Sierra Leone’s First lady Fatima Bio has blasted French airliner, Air France for poor customer service and treatment against Africans travelers. On her Facebook page Mrs. Bio wrote “My thought about Air France coming out of France to Africa. Bad Attitude. Have no respect for Africans, no sympathy for African passengers traveling with children. No empathy for disabled Africans, bad and cheap food for Africans,” she posted.
“No respect for African passengers. They treated us like dogs. We are no longer slaves.” Fatima Bio..
Fatima Bio said she checked in to fly out from Paris to Guinea via Sierra Leone after sitting in the flight for 2 hours, they were asked to leave because the plane was faulty. She said they were moved into another flight where they sat for another 2 hours, then the pilot announced they could not travel because the crew had gone over their scheduled time.
“They asked everyone to leave the plane with no explanation. Women with children where left roaming the airport not knowing what to do. People on wheelchairs were crisscrossing to find a place to rest and there was no one from Air France to help them,”.
To make matters worse, Mrs. Bio added, no one was allowed to take back their suitcases so if you had your medication in them as far as Air France was concern you can die for all they care.
How can a crew of 12 that did not travel did nothing for more than 150 passengers, is it because they are Africans? she asked. Bio asked when Air France will understand that we are there biggest customers in terms of pricing. Africans pay the highest to travel to Africa with inferior planes all the time. “We are treated like criminals at all European airports especially France. We are given the worst terminal to travel from like dogs. Even in the VIP lounges, the food they present to us is only fit for prisoners.
The First lady said her advice to African Heads of States is to engage Air France and demand better treatment for their people. “We are not slaves any longer so Air France should remove that mentality of superiority from their selfish self and know that no African country will go under France as slave again,” she said. “Air France change your bad ways because we are watching”, she ended. Air France has not responded to Mrs. Bio’s comments.
Fatima’s post has ignited the call for African leaders to invest more in flights to easy regional travelling and reduce the cost of flight tickets for especially travelers from the continent.
